Local and aligned
Localign takes its name from Local and Alignment. Our mission is to bring world-class AI to organisations, on their own terms. For the public task that begins with one hard guarantee: identifiable data is processed exclusively within the EU.
Most platforms look European on the surface, but still run on American cloud and software services. Localign processes your work by default with an internal model, EU-hosted or on-premise in your own infrastructure, and consults external models only anonymised, through a security shield. That way you use world-class models while identifiable data stays exclusively with European companies.
The context
AI is already part of the work. The question is: on whose terms.
Employees have been using AI for a while, often unseen on personal accounts. At the same time the Netherlands Court of Audit warns in Het Rijk in de cloud (2025) about dependence on American providers, and the government is choosing digital autonomy: open where it can, protected where it must.

Mathyn Scheerder worked as Tech Lead Public-Private Collaborations at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on large-scale projects protecting national digital infrastructure, such as DNS protection for all Dutch internet users.

Does Localign comply with BIO?
Yes. Localign is built according to the Baseline Information Security Government (BIO). We provide the documentation, the processing register and support for your DPIA that you need for your own risk analysis and accountability.
Is personal data of citizens and employees sent to the AI model?
By default, no. Your work is processed by an internal, EU-hosted model. If an external model is consulted for broader interpretation, the security shield rewrites the question to placeholders like [name] and [address] before sending, and records every step in the audit log. In the answer, the data is re-inserted within your secured environment.
Where is our data processed, and what about the CLOUD Act?
Identifiable data is processed exclusively by European companies within the EU and under European law, not outside the EU and not to train models. That means no exposure to the American CLOUD Act. We record data location and jurisdiction contractually, including a data processing agreement.
Does Localign fit our procurement and tendering process?
Yes. Localign aligns with your procurement terms, including the GIBIT, and is easy to trial via a pilot. For housing corporations and other organisations without a tendering obligation, you can often start more directly.
Can we run on-premise or connect to vlam-chat?
Yes. Localign can run EU-hosted or on-premise in your own infrastructure, and connects to existing on-premise initiatives like vlam-chat (Secure Local AI Models). For broader interpretation you can also enable external top models, anonymised through the security shield.
Does the AI make decisions?
No. Localign delivers drafts and analyses; your employee reviews and decides. The human always stays responsible, and every step is traceable via the audit log.
